Megan and Kevin – Married!

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

I had the pleasure last weekend of joining these two sweet people on one of the most important days of their lives – and, I don’t know if I’ve ever teared up so hard during a ceremony. Ever. The love between them is so palpable, even with Megan being shy (especially camera shy) and Kevin being a pretty quiet guy; it radiated out from them and they glowed a little, especially during their ceremony. I have to tell you, I hear Corinthians so often that I have it memorized. But at Megan and Kevin’s wedding, I don’t know that it’s ever sunk in so deep. The reading came just after the Father had read personal messages by Megan and Kevin, disclosing things they would tell their families if they could, what their love means to them, what marriage means to them, and more… to have Corinthians follow that, and end on the proclamation of “Love Never Fails”, well… if there was a dry eye in the house, I would have been surprised. I cried.

I started the day at Kevin’s parent’s house, with all the ladies. They are a fun bunch and I was able to grab some pictures of some details before we headed over to the church, where Megan got dressed.

Kevin was escorted by his parents down the aisle, and Megan walked with her father.

The ceremony was sweetly emotional. Kevin cried!

Here’s the part where I tell you how hilarious all of Kevin’s family are. His brothers and sister are so fun! Here’s one of their family photos in the church:

And the rest of their portraits turned out gorgeous as well.

Fun ones:

Gorgeous!

Some details:

The reception was a blast. They had a great DJ crew, appropriately named “Always a Party Entertainment”, and once the party got hoppin, there was no stopping.

The Maid of Honor and sister of the Bride, Maria, gives her speech (and didn’t want to go first!):

Kevin’s twin (yes, twin!) Patrick gives his toast:

The cake cutting – Megan got him!

The First Dance and Mother/Son, Father/Daughter:

And…. the PARTY!

Kevin and Megan, THANK YOU for having me at your wedding. It was a beautiful day from start to finish, and I loved every minute of it. You and your families were all so fantastic. Thank you!

P.S. and thank you especially for showing me what Corinthians is all about.

Terah and Derrick – Married!

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

If you ever have the luck and pleasure to meet Terah and Derrick, one thing is for certain: you WILL walk away smiling. These two, especially when together, exude such joy, light and, dare I say it, silliness. Derrick has the most infectious sense of humor and Terah’s smile and laugh are so beautiful that it’s impossible to be in a bad mood around them. I experienced this a little bit during their engagement session (and from them I got one of my most favorite pictures EVER; they’re in the slideshow at the top of this page!) but there were so many spontaneous bursts of joy and laughter during the course of the wedding day that I came home feeling high on life and had to stop for a cherry limeade (one of my favorite things in the world) on the way.

Terah and Derrick were married at the Provincial House Chapel at UMSL, which you’ve seen on my blog before under a half foot of snow. On this achingly gorgeous June day, however, there was nothing but golden sunshine. The entire chapel was lit up with afternoon/early evening light and my, oh my… it haloed the entire event and everyone who stepped into the chapel. The girls were getting ready at the Sheraton Clayton Plaza Hotel, which is also where the reception was held. I had the opportunity to work with the very lovely Simonne and Jerry Bolla as well, who were handling videography for the event. (You should check them out! Click Here.)

I could go on forever about how amazing these two are. Seriously.

We started at the Sheraton, where Terah was helping Jordan, her ringbearer, get ready while all her bridesmaids got dolled up. We ended up taking Derrick’s present with us (that’s me and the Bollas), so when we all arrived at the chapel I tracked him down and made him open it.

Terah finished getting ready at the Chapel – her dress was PLATINUM. That’s right, silver. It was amazing on her! And look at those purple shoes!

We finally wrestled Derrick away from everyone to open his gift from Terah. It was a beautiful letter, that he did his best not to cry while he was reading, a sexy new watch, and socks – incase he got “cold feet”. Cute!

Terah had a gift from Derrick as well, and I had the pleasure of delivering it.

Here’s her reaction! It was a gorgeous little silver trinket box that had “Foxy Lady” engraved on the top!

After the gift exchanges, it was TIME! Here’s Derek waiting on his Bride:

These two are some of the most beautiful children I’ve ever seen!

Terah looks at her mom just before she joins arms with her to give her daughter away!

The Kiss!

(P.S. – I love these two pictures of them coming out of the chapel! That’s what I was talking about, always laughing, happy, smiling! Come on, I know you giggled when you saw them! Infectious!)

After the ceremony, the guests headed back to the Sheraton for cocktail hour, but we stuck around for some photos. Prepare yourself for some more of that same T&D Fox fabulousness. Ready?

Some of the finer details of the day:

Derrick’s Groom’s Cake. Terah surprised him with this! Derrick is a musician and teaches music, and she had this cake special made as a music stand, book of music, and a director’s baton. He LOVED it.

The Matron of Honor, Reem, tells us all how Derrick made the BFF and sister Checklist of Approval during her speech.

The Best Man, Derrick’s cousin Delarris, gives Derrick a little trouble during his toast.

First Dance!

Terah and her Father:

Derrick and his Mother:

Terah watching the same-day edit of her wedding video by the awesome Jerry Bolla:

Many, many Congratulations Terah and Derrick! It was such a pleasure working with you two, and your wedding day was an incredibly beautiful, joyous occasion. Here’s wishing you a lifetime of nothing but love and laughter!

Aubrey and Todd – Married!

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Aubrey and Todd had a beautiful wedding at Quail Ridge lodge in Wentzville on Memorial Weekend. It threatened to rain on us all day, and I kept sullenly looking out the window (let’s be honest, it was a very rainy spring!) but luckily, the rain held off and they were granted an absolutely gorgeous day, even if overcast, for their outdoor ceremony.

I started off with Aubrey and her Bridesmaids at Image Makers Salon & Spa in Lake St. Louis. It was fun watching Aubrey get all curled and veiled! I always enjoy meeting with the girls before the ceremony. Girl time is the best time! Then we headed to the hotel to get dressed.

Upon arriving to Quail Ridge, Todd hid while Aubrey came in and ran to the bathroom so they wouldn’t see each other. I got busy taking some detail shots and ventured outside to check out the gorgeous custom aisle runner! I love monogrammed and custom details!

The ceremony was so sweet and I loved how Aubrey and Todd involved so many of their families’ children. Their daughter Reese was one of the flower girls – she got to ride in the wagon with a very handsome little man named Gage, the son of one of the Bridesmaids and Groomsman (Christina and Michael).

Afterward we took a break for some photos while everyone headed inside the lodge to relax until the caterers arrived. We had a ton of fun, and I was so excited that Aubrey wanted ‘fun’ pictures! Jump, ladies!

The Maid of Honor Nickie had a warm and funny speech, but the Best Man Brian and his spiel about his ‘wolf pack’ was hysterical. And Todd smashed cake in Aubrey’s face, but she forgave him awfully quickly (I think because she managed to keep the red velvet off her dress!).

Aubrey and Todd, you guys had an amazing day and I’m so honored to have been a part of it. I hope you thoroughly enjoy your honeymoon – you SO deserve it! Many Congratulations you two!

Chaela and Nathan – Married!

Friday, May 27th, 2011

Chaela and Nathan were married last Saturday in a beautiful, tear-jerking ceremony at the Lemp Mansion. When I arrived I met with the videographers and checked in with Nate, who said the girls were on their way. And sure enough, right after that I saw them pull up, and followed them upstairs to catch Chaela getting ready.

I soon found out that Chaela’s father had passed away and Nathan sent her up a pin to put on her bouquet, with a poem about her father. The tears started flowing right then, even for me, and didn’t stop until the end of the ceremony.

Chaela’s gorgeous over-the-hand bouquet with the pin:

Chaela and Nathan put so many personal details into their ceremony – one of my favorites were her “something blue” customized wedding heels! Completely fabulous!

Also fabulous was Chaela’s dress. Oh. My. Stunning! Also an adorable touch was their programs – made into little fans!

Chaela loves staircases so we really had to work the beautiful iron spiral into her photos, and of course use the grand staircase in the Lemp Mansion.

After we snatched pictures of Chaela and the girls and Nathan and the guys, it was time for the ceremony to begin. I told you that it was emotional, right? Everyone cried, including me! It was such a beautiful, beautiful day and the overall feeling among all the guests was simply overwhelming joy.

The dedication to Chaela’s father:

Another personal detail I loved – Chaela and Nathan’s Alaskan Malamutes Banks and Macy were the ring bearer and flower girl!

Chaela’s brother walked her down the aisle..

The Kiss!

At the end of their ceremony, they released balloons!

Afterward we grabbed a few more photos at the Lemp. But these two are huge Cardinals fans, so after a stop at the Arch for some fun photos, we made our way to Busch Stadium for the obligatory shots before heading to the Sheraton for their reception.

The reception was a blast! The toasts were funny and heartfelt, and the wedding party ‘line up’ was awesome – as true Cards fans, the wedding party entered the party as their names and playing positions were announced, just like at the stadium when the players are introduced. Their guestbook was homeplate, also, something I have to mention because I was the first to sign it! The band Borderline was rockin’ shop! I think EVERYONE was on the dancefloor, and the band even modified ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ to ‘Green Eyed Girl’ on Nate’s behalf, because Chaela has gorgeous, huge green eyes.

Nate and Chaela, your entire day was a beautiful, emotional and super fun day. I hope you have amazing memories of it for the rest of your lives together. Many blessings and all my best to you both! xo

Brianne and Steve – Married!

Friday, May 20th, 2011

Brianne and Steve were married last Saturday and I was so honored to be a part of their beautiful wedding!

First off, I have to say is that Brianne’s dress was absolutely beautiful. I get to see a lot of wedding dresses, but her’s was different than any other I’ve seen. A fluffy, creamy confection, the bustline was adorned with gauzy rosettes and the waist was straight, yielding to the very full princess skirt and fabric buttons all the way down the back center seam… a dress to absolutely drool over!

The Catholic ceremony was very sweet, and I really loved how Brianne and Steve worked Steve’s mother into the ceremony, even though she’s passed. I am sure that she was there, smiling and beaming with pride.

The weather (rain) was a little bit of a drag, but it tapered off later and thankfully we were able to get outside for some pictures. And of course, we had to hit up Ted Drewes for some complimentary frozen custard!

Brianne and Steve, you’re wedding was beautiful. Thank you so much for having me there! Many Congratulations and Blessings to you both!

Tom and Shannon – Married!

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

To be honest, I wasn’t going to write a blog for Tom and Shannon, because Tom and Shannon’s wedding wasn’t proper ‘work’. I was a guest, so I just linked them up to their online gallery and was going to give them a bit of privacy since I wasn’t hired to be their personal paparazzi. However, after some thought, I felt like they really deserved to have a blog as well, to showcase, celebrate and tell an outsider’s and insider’s story of their beautiful wedding.

These two are very close friends of mine and as I mentioned, I was invited as a guest. My honey Jeremy and the Groom Tom have been best friends since high school, and Tom and Shannon asked Jeremy if he would officiate for them. Jeremy was incredibly honored, and it was kind of just decided that I would be taking pictures because, well, what else would I be doing? :)

We showed up at Tom and Shannon’s a few hours early so that I could do Shannon’s hair. Us girls got all dolled up while the guys got dressed, and there was this moment of escalated emotion when everything suddenly came together – their two boys, Micah and Braden, were dressed, and Tom was finally in his suit, and you could see the change in him. It’s that moment of anticipation, of reality settling in that in a short time, he would be married. It’s something I’ve witnessed so many times with other couples, but watching them go through it (Shannon had the same moment just after I got her into the car) was heart-wrenching and thrilling in the best of ways. It’s nothing that I can properly describe; that moment is something best witnessed and felt…but I thought to try to describe it anyway.

We shooed the guys out a bit early so we could get Shannon into her dress without Tom seeing her before she arrived at their venue. Speaking of her dress, let me pause here momentarily to mention that it was a sleek, simple and darling dress that perfectly suited her personality, and she may have been the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen (I might be biased). And her shoes! To die for. I drove, having to turn around once in that very comical way that hurried people do, to fetch the ‘kid wine’. Upon arriving, I started in with pictures of the centerpieces, which were beautifully done by a friend of Shannon’s – white hydrangeas with stems of some kind of purple brushy flower in short square vases, and some candid shots. They had a little time to schmooze with their friends and family, and then Jeremy got the signal that it was time to start the ceremony.

Micah poses for me!

Shannon gives the boys her and Tom's rings just before the ceremony.

Jeremy chatting with Tom's little brother Ryan.

Tom's mother talking to all the kids.

Shannon looking absolutely stunning, just before the ceremony.

Shannon's adorable niece.

Jeremy started with a blurb about how he and Tom “met over a bucket of chicken.” And that’s where he got choked up, approximately 2 sentences in. The chicken thing is true; they both worked at KFC. But Colonel Sander’s secret recipe isn’t what got J all emotional – being an only child, Tom is the closest thing that Jeremy has to a brother. They’re like Sam and Frodo.

The Ceremony starts...

The boys present the rings.

The Kiss begins! And...

...20 minutes later, The Kiss ends! (just kidding guys!)

Also, Tom and Shannon are two of our most favorite people in the whole world. And they are also one of The Most Perfect Couples in the whole world. I mean this with such fervent emotion that I can’t really describe it; you’d have to meet them to see what I mean. They are Peanut Butter and Jelly. Biscuit and Honey. Bacon and Cheeseburger. Chocolate and Caramel. And anything else that just magically sets perfectly together. Being so close to them, and seeing them so incredibly happy, and making this beautiful commitment to one another… well, it’s difficult not to get emotional. We love dem kids.

Tom's Mom hugging Shannon right after the ceremony.

Sneaking in a smooch.

From start to finish, the wedding was very intimate and emotional; a small affair with all their VIPs. I can’t praise the venue enough; The Wine Tap is beautiful, and if you are ever in Belleville, you absolutely MUST stop in. The Alsatian pizza is a HUGE win, but all of their flatbread pizzas are delicious (I tried every one!). The venue set a great backdrop but it was everything that went on inside that made the event so memorable – The Kiss was about 5 minutes long, the dancing was hilarious, the kids were amazing, the cakes were delicious (made by Shannon’s aunt if I remember correctly), the entire evening was just… perfect.

Beautiful family!

The Boys! Tom, Micah and Braden.

Sissy! LOL

In the foreground, Tom's brothers, Devon and Ryan, and Tom and Shannon dancing in the background.

I photographed the wedding in 4-inch heels and a little black dress so tight that I resembled sausage stuffed into casing, something that I’d never normally do (for obvious reasons, I’d hope). And I enjoyed every minute of being there, and was so grateful that I could give them pictures that told their story. Tom and Shannon, we love you, we are so happy for you, and we are so grateful to be friends with you. We can’t wait until our next Wine/Kinect party! xo

All Our Best,

Sam and Jeremy

P.S. Your love is beautiful.

Emily and Jared – Married!

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

I am lucky enough to know these two personally, so this wedding was really close to my heart. The Groom and I went to high school and graduated together, and seeing him so happy was a fantastic experience for me. Jared is kind of a quiet guy; funny but quiet. Emily is just plain fun. Sweet, down-to-earth, and she loves Hello Kitty. You can’t NOT like Emily.

These two met while working at Six Flags and I think the total count is at around 4 years that they’ve been together now. A few years back at mine and Jared’s 10 year high school reunion, I have a distinct memory of him telling me about how he’d be the happiest and luckiest guy in the world when he finally got around to asking Emily to marry him. Being able to see that sentiment fulfilled, especially to be there to document the event, was really emotional for me. It was beyond awesome. I still feel so honored.

And I admit, walking into the reception and hearing my name yelled out (my nickname, ‘Samie’, from a table of fellow high school friends) was pretty awesome too.

More awesome? Emily’s Bridesmaids – her Best Friends, Cousins and Sisters. They are perhaps the most helpful, fun, crazy, warm and patient group I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with (I mention ‘patient’ because I’m a little spastic when I work, and I tend to forget names altogether even after being told repeatedly – I’m working on that, everyone, I promise!). Emily, what an amazing group of women you keep around you!

Jared and Emily, thank you SO much for having me at your wedding! It was such an honor and such a blast to be there, to witness you two go through such a weighty, and yet completely freeing, step in your lives. The whole experience was wonderful, the wedding absolutely beautiful, I hope you look back on it forever with warm memories. Thanks again and many blessings and congratulations!

Amy and Michael – Married!

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Amy and Mike are a couple of amazing people. Truly. Quiet, reserved, classy and incredible. They met while both working on a political campaign, and since then their love and adoration for one another have simply grown. I felt so special to be part of this wedding, because the ‘theme’ was very close to my heart – these two love St. Louis, and they wanted to highlight the city in their ceremony. They came up with some really unique ideas; from incorporating the Arch in the table floral centerpieces (courtesy of Mike’s truly talented Mom!) and Fleur de Lis accents, to having their reception at the spectacular Casa Loma Ballroom and highlighting musical artists who have played on the stage there, their wedding had old St. Louis charm and a whole lot of grace. I’m a lover of the vintage urban look they worked in, and especially when that ‘urban’ part means my home city!

This is a wedding that I will never forget. March is a tricky month weather-wise, no doubt – but who knew that it’d be 80 degrees just a few days before, and we’d get about 7 inches of snow dumped on us during their ceremony? Check out the before and after pictures:

It was so beautiful, and we ended up with so much in such a short amount of time, that I think we were mostly a little giddy over it. I don’t remember any disappointed parties; Amy and Mike simply seemed to embrace it, and we braved it for outdoor photos (albeit, not all that many!) around Provincial House Chapel and at the Eads Bridge.

If these two can weather this storm, I just know they’ll weather any storm life throws at them.

Amy and Mike, I had such a great time with you on your wedding day! It was absolutely beautiful, and some of these pictures will be my favorite for years to come. Thank you so much for having me – you both are absolutely wonderful, and I hope you’re having an amazing time on your honeymoon in Mexico! xo

Patrice and Shawn – Married!

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Last weekend I had the pleasure of hanging out with Patrice and Shawn for their beautiful wedding day! This wedding was really special, as it was about 7 years in the making. The day started a little off-kilter schedule-wise, but it righted itself and we all literally got to the church on time!

I also got to work with Steve Alejandro of SA3 Studios (here’s his website: www.sa3studios.com) and major thanks to him for all his amazing help! I really enjoyed working with you!

These two are super sweet and their daughters are amazing. I really loved all of their family too. Thank you both so much for having me for your wedding! It’s been a long engagement and I was so excited for the event to finally happen! Thank you so much, I was so honored to be a part of your special day!

WeddingChannel Deal!

Monday, March 21st, 2011

My WeddingChannel deal launched today and I’ve already gotten an incredible response! Go check it out and take advantage of an amazing deal while it lasts! The deal is a Bridal Boudoir, Fashion or Trash the Dress session for only $50 – these sessions are normally $250! I am discounting them for a limited time because I want to do MORE of them – get a great deal now while they are a steal.

Here’s the link: http://deals.weddingchannel.com/deal/st-louis/arms-photography

To get an idea of what Boudoir and Trash the Dress photos look like, check out the links below:

Boudoir: click here

Trash the Dress: click here

And if you are a little unsure of what a ‘Bridal Fashion’ shoot might include, let me explain – it can be one of two things. You can don your wedding gown and your Groom can wear a handsome suit or dressy get-up prior to (or after) the wedding and do a fashion-inspired shoot, either in a studio setting or somewhere outdoors, to get more ‘portraits’ of the two of you incase your wedding day schedule is really hectic. (By portraits I don’t necessarily mean traditionally posed; think modern and elegant, spontaneous and gorgeous). Or – you can don your gown and do a fashion-inspired shoot, modern Bride style. Again, this can be out and about or in a studio set-up (or both), depending on the look you want, and you get treated like a Super Star Super Model for a few hours in your amazing wedding dress. These shoots are a blast, both with the two of you or just the brides, and I am excited to be running this deal to do some more!

So go on and check out the WeddingChannel deal, book me up, and let’s go party with my cameras!
