Stephanie and Homer – Engaged!

Monday, November 7th, 2011

Finally I get to Stephanie and Homer’s fun engagement session!

These two are really laid back and really fun, and of course I love any engagement session that involves a doggie! And hockey fans! Ok, I love any photo session that includes doggies AND hockey fans!

Stephanie and Homer, I’m looking forward to your next engagement session and your wedding next September. Thank you so much for allowing me to hang out with you and driving me between Forest Park and the CWE – it was fun!

Kristy and Jimmy – Engaged!

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

Kristy and Jimmy were so much fun to work with! Jimmy digs on photography, so he had a lot of great ideas. I love it when clients get involved in their photos! Especially when you have the best of both worlds, like I did with these two – the creative freedom to do my thing, but also the excitement of someone who loves photography and has a different, creative eye. Loved it.

We hit up Tower Grove Park first, then for some contrast scooted over to Laclede’s Landing. Their first date was at the Old Spaghetti Factory so of course we had to go there for the memories – look at where that first date led!

Congrats, you two! I had a blast with you on your engagement session – you two looked fabulous (and really, is Kristy not AMAZING in that black and pink ballerina-inspired dress, and is Jimmy’s hair not totally hip? Methinks they are both fab!) and I am really looking forward to their wedding next steamy, sultry July!

Enjoy the photographic goodness:

Crystal and Pete – Engaged!

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

I am so very fortunate to have known Crystal a long time ago (in junior high school). I say that because that means I get the pleasure of getting to know Crystal again as an adult, and see the awesome woman she’s grown into. Along with that, I get to witness certain things – like how in love she is with her fiance, Pete. Pete and Crystal are perfect together, and I really couldn’t imagine another man in this world for her. He lets her talk and interjects when she takes a breath (just kidding, Crystal!), and his sweet charm makes her smile and laugh. Speaking of laughs, she loves when he laughs hard and throws his head back, and I know Pete loves her million dollar smile. When Crystal smiles, she simply lights up. I’ve rarely seen 2 people have so much respect for each other as these two do. Together they have made a life and a home and are raising Crystal’s 3 sons into fine young men. And as a mother of 2 boys, I can tell you, that is a task to be admired.

I had a blast with these two (and their sweet pug Olivia!) during their engagement session. Crystal’s outfit at Forest Park was SO. CUTE. Those boots? Hello Nurse. They were both nervous and Crystal doesn’t like to have her picture taken, but as you can see, they loosened up when they realized I wasn’t going to just throw them to the wolves, and we got some of my most favorite engagement photos ever. There’s more photos from their session on my Facebook page! Click here to take a peek!

Crystal and Pete, thank you so much, and I can’t wait until your February wedding! xo

Amy and Nate – Engaged!

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

This blog has been a long time coming – usually I get them up within a week, but because I took Amy and Nate’s photos the day before I went on vacation, and came back to a wedding, it’s been a little crazy around here trying to catch up. Despite that, all wonderful things are worth waiting for…

Amy and I met this summer to talk about her February wedding, and from the first instant, I loved her. She smiles constantly and has an utterly infectious laugh (and she laughs easily!) and I just knew that her and Nate’s wedding would be an absolute blast. And then when I met Nate, well… it was confirmed. These two are incredibly sweet, and their wedding is most definitely going to be an absolute blast. He smiles as much as Amy, and is a little bit of a ham with such a great sense of humor.

Amy and Nate, I absolutely loved hanging out with you two! Thank you so much – I’m really looking forward to your next session!

Debbie and David – Engaged!

Monday, August 29th, 2011

Debbie and David’s engagement session was a rare treat for me, because I got to get out of town for a day. I traveled down to Jefferson City to do their engagement photos, where the both of them live. Their wedding will be in Columbia this October, and I cannot wait to see how beautiful it turns out!

I was meeting these two for the first time, but they were both very laid back and so easy to talk to. It was really a relaxed, gorgeous afternoon, aside from a bit of humidity. We started at David’s parents’ beautiful home, and then went to the gardens at the Governor’s Mansion. With how dry it’s been this summer, the gardens seemed like an oasis of lush green and color among all the dead grass all around the area. I loved seeing a new location, and loved watching these two together. They are so gentle and laughed so easily. As a side note, Debbie happened to mention in an email that David likes zombie-related stuff, so that automatically bumped them up to the top of the Awesome Scale.

Debbie and David, thank you both so much for allowing me to document your special day! You are both so sweet and I can’t wait until October!

Becky and Brandon – Engaged!

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Ok, so keep in mind when you’re going through these pictures, that Brandon wasn’t all that keen on the idea of this engagement session!

I met these two Cards fan down at the stadium one evening last week, and I’m so glad that I talked them into it! These two are adorable, and we had a chance to chat and learn a little about each other before we do their October wedding this fall – which I am SO excited for, by the way, because it’s at the stunning Wine Country Gardens in Defiance! – and I got to find out things that you don’t necessarily get to when you skip the engagement sessions, like that Becky kisses Brandon’s nose. I really can’t stand how fun these two are. And they were troopers, walking all around the place with me and even sitting on the sidewalk, which you know has been adorned with all manner of grossness as fellow Cardinals fans celebrated victory after many a game.

Becky has this infectious happy personality. She’s like a ray of sunshine and a rainbow caught in a shimmery little bubble. She’s gorgeous, she’s fun, she’s laid-back, she has a great smile. And Brandon is equally laid-back, although a bit more quiet (at least with me) but just as fun and sunshiny. I’m so glad they chose me as their photographer, because I really think these pictures capture the authentic “Becky and Brandon”, and that makes me happy. Everyone should see their personalities and their love and be inspired.

So here we go, their Cardinals-themed E-sesh! Many thanks, B & B!

Deirdre and Dustin – Engaged!

Friday, August 5th, 2011

Deirdre and Dustin are adorable. There’s no other real explanation for them.

These two are getting married in Vegas, so I won’t have the honor of taking their wedding pictures like I will Deirdre’s sister, Jessica, but I am so glad that they chose me to do their engagement photos. We all met at Blackburn Park and walked around with their beagle, Skeeter, and had a generally rambunctious time. Many, many thanks to them for being so cute together, and for letting me stalk them with my camera! Here’s a few of my favorites from the day.

Stacy and AJ – Engagement Session #2

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

I really loved Stacy and AJ’s second engagement session. Their first one was at the City Museum, where AJ proposed. This one was at Laumeier Sculpture Park, with their little dog Barkley. Barkley was so sweet until my camera came out, then he turned into this…

Attack Barkley!

He was a little unsure of the camera, but he warmed up!

Stacy and AJ were adorable and I was so glad that we did the second session. Thanks you guys! Can’t wait until your October wedding!

Ashley and Justin – Engaged!

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Ashley and Justin met at school down in Springfield. She was dating some other dude but Justin was cooler, and I can vouch for the fact that he is. They met me downtown with their crazy/sweet doggie Lola, and because they are huge Cardinals fans, we started there.

Their first date was at a bowling alley, so of course I geeked out over that and we went over to Flamingo Bowl to grab a few adorable photos there. They changed first so they’d have something other than their Cards gear on. After that we hit up City Garden to get a few ‘normal’ photos but these photos are anything but normal – friggin’ gorgeous is more like it! I think those are my favorite of the bunch!

These two are awesome. They put up with me being a nerd and were completely natural in front of the camera. I felt like I was working with professionals. They are so much fun and Ashley is as sweet as a Mississippi mud pie. Their wedding isn’t until next June, and I can’t believe I gotta wait a whole year to see them both dolled up and saying vows to each other, but I do so love long engagements (they make the day even more sweet!).

Ashley and Justin, thank you both so much for having me as your photographer. And congratulations!

Amanda and Kyle – Engaged!

Monday, June 6th, 2011

I had a great time getting to know these two during their engagement session. Amanda is perhaps the sweetest girl I have ever met – she’s one of those quieter people that blossoms as you get to know her. And Kyle is just an all-around good guy; fun and light-hearted.

We hit The City Museum for their engagement photos because it was a new place for them (Kyle had taken his kids there only once before and Amanda had never been) and they wanted something interesting, different and fun. I think we managed that! We were trying to get a lot accomplished in as little time as possible, because they were on their way to Lake of the Ozarks for a weekend trip. I hope you two had a great time down there!

I can’t wait to work with these two more – we might try to work in another Engagement session in the Ozarks before their September wedding, because Kyle (and now Amanda and Kyle together) spends a lot of time down there. I really hope that works out – I love getting to shoot in new places!

Many congratulations on your engagement, you two! I can’t wait to hang out with you both again!
