Debbie and David – Engaged!

Monday, August 29th, 2011

Debbie and David’s engagement session was a rare treat for me, because I got to get out of town for a day. I traveled down to Jefferson City to do their engagement photos, where the both of them live. Their wedding will be in Columbia this October, and I cannot wait to see how beautiful it turns out!

I was meeting these two for the first time, but they were both very laid back and so easy to talk to. It was really a relaxed, gorgeous afternoon, aside from a bit of humidity. We started at David’s parents’ beautiful home, and then went to the gardens at the Governor’s Mansion. With how dry it’s been this summer, the gardens seemed like an oasis of lush green and color among all the dead grass all around the area. I loved seeing a new location, and loved watching these two together. They are so gentle and laughed so easily. As a side note, Debbie happened to mention in an email that David likes zombie-related stuff, so that automatically bumped them up to the top of the Awesome Scale.

Debbie and David, thank you both so much for allowing me to document your special day! You are both so sweet and I can’t wait until October!

Emma and Owais – Married!

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

Emma and Owais knew it would be hot when they chose their August wedding date, but I don’t know if they knew just HOW HOT. I don’t think you can talk about the day without talking about the weather; it wasn’t just the heat that set the pace of the day, but the merciless humidity as well. It rained for all of about 5 minutes here and there while we were waiting on the ceremony to begin – which was good, because when you have an entire outdoor event planned, rain is the antithesis. However, I think we all were begging for a little relief, but the spot showers just made it steamier. Everyone, guests and wedding party alike, were soaked with sweat. And you know what? I actually loved it. Yeah I’m serious. It felt more rustic, and suited the environment so well. It added character to an already amazing day.

Emma and Owais had their ceremony at the stunning Lalumondiere Mill and Rivergardens in House Springs. I had never been and was completely astounded when I got to the property. It is LITERALLY an old mill, right on the river, and the gardens are amazing! Everything is landscaped and lush, rustic stone and wood – it is beautiful and being a junky for (my catchword of this blog) all things rustic, I was in heaven.

Here’s the “Birdcage” where the ceremony took place overlooking the river:

Emma got ready in the bridal suite upstairs (which blessedly had a window AC!) and had one of the most beautiful beds I’ve ever seen.

Emma’s mom, who was also the officiant for their wedding, cried as her daughter got into her dress.

The guys got ready down the hall. There was a jacket mix up but they got it figured out!

I am going to take this moment to say that my favorite color is turquoise blue (and all similar hues – robin’s egg, aqua, teal, peacock blue, etc). And Emma’s wedding color was all turquoise and I was absolutely in turquoise heaven. Look at her SHOES! To die for.

Emma and Owais did a ‘first look’ because their ceremony and reception were back to back, and this moment was so amazing. I know some Brides prefer the tradition of not seeing each other beforehand, but really there is no less emotion in the first moment you see each other all ready to commit your lives to each other – it is always emotional! <3

After this week took some photos of the Bride and Groom…

Then we got pictures of everyone. Oh – funny story. When I first met with Emma and Owais, and they were trying to choose a photographer, I mentioned how I’d love to do basically a comic book page collage of one of my grooms and groomsmen. I’m not sure if that’s why they chose me, but Owais was all over that idea. Here’s one of our photos for the comic book page.

And the beautiful ladies:

And some details:

The Best Man Tom made a red and a white wine for Emma and Owais’ wedding – how awesome! And my handiwork went on their labels! (one of Emma and Owais’ photos from their engagement session).

After photos and a little bit of chilling out in the Bridal suite upstairs (in the AC of course), the guests were all escorted down to the Birdcage and it was time to start the ceremony.

The Kiss!

The reception was so awesome. These two danced what I believe to be a waltz (and I could be way off) for their first dance and I was then completely in love with their love. Owais and Emma have one of the most quiet and respectful loves I have maybe ever witnessed. They are always laughing, and always so calm with each other. Being around them makes you feel like you just feel into a cupcake; sweet bliss!

Emma and Owais, thank you SO much for having me be a part of your wedding! I had so much fun sweating out in the heat with you and your friends and family! It was an amazing day at an amazing place – a thousand thank yous.

Becky and Brandon – Engaged!

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Ok, so keep in mind when you’re going through these pictures, that Brandon wasn’t all that keen on the idea of this engagement session!

I met these two Cards fan down at the stadium one evening last week, and I’m so glad that I talked them into it! These two are adorable, and we had a chance to chat and learn a little about each other before we do their October wedding this fall – which I am SO excited for, by the way, because it’s at the stunning Wine Country Gardens in Defiance! – and I got to find out things that you don’t necessarily get to when you skip the engagement sessions, like that Becky kisses Brandon’s nose. I really can’t stand how fun these two are. And they were troopers, walking all around the place with me and even sitting on the sidewalk, which you know has been adorned with all manner of grossness as fellow Cardinals fans celebrated victory after many a game.

Becky has this infectious happy personality. She’s like a ray of sunshine and a rainbow caught in a shimmery little bubble. She’s gorgeous, she’s fun, she’s laid-back, she has a great smile. And Brandon is equally laid-back, although a bit more quiet (at least with me) but just as fun and sunshiny. I’m so glad they chose me as their photographer, because I really think these pictures capture the authentic “Becky and Brandon”, and that makes me happy. Everyone should see their personalities and their love and be inspired.

So here we go, their Cardinals-themed E-sesh! Many thanks, B & B!

Deirdre and Dustin – Engaged!

Friday, August 5th, 2011

Deirdre and Dustin are adorable. There’s no other real explanation for them.

These two are getting married in Vegas, so I won’t have the honor of taking their wedding pictures like I will Deirdre’s sister, Jessica, but I am so glad that they chose me to do their engagement photos. We all met at Blackburn Park and walked around with their beagle, Skeeter, and had a generally rambunctious time. Many, many thanks to them for being so cute together, and for letting me stalk them with my camera! Here’s a few of my favorites from the day.
